Attorney Michael Y. Lo received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1975 from Queen's University in Canada. He received his Juris Doctor degree from University of West Los Angeles and passed the California Bar in 1981. After working for a local law firm for 2 years, Mr. Lo started his own practice, first in City of Los Angeles, then to City of Alhambra, and settled in his current location in Alhambra since 1994. Mr. Lo started out as a general practitioner, and then gradually narrowed his focus to the areas of business law, bankruptcy law and elder law.
Both sons of Mr. Lo, Jonathan and Kelvin, have worked for the firm as law clerks after colleges and during law schools. After passing the bar, both are now associates. Being this is a family run law firm gives clients great comfort in knowing their legal matters can be taken care of over a long period of time, even from generation to generation, if necessary.
Besides English, Mr. Lo is also fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese dialects. Mr. Lo is known among his clients as having the ability to explain complicated legal concepts in easy to understand language that clients can understand. Miscommunication is probably the number one reason why a client is dissatisfied with a law firm’s services and why most cases do not come to a client’s expected conclusion. No language barrier, easy of communication and years of experience are the main reasons clients keep coming back for the firm’s services.
Mr. Lo enjoys playing golf in his spare time. He carries a Handicap Index around 15. Combining travel and golf is his favorite way to relax. Both Jonathan and Kelvin also play golf and are scratch players. So the family often play golf together in their spare time.
